This was by far the most fun project all semester! It was a relief to not have to think about making this look as realistic as possible. Coming up with different patterns and color formations was one of the best parts. I definitely want to do more projects like this in the future!
The inspiration came from a colored pencil drawing that I did around 5 years ago. I never finished it, but I really liked the idea so I felt it was time to revisit it.
I've mentioned before in one of my Doodle Friday posts about the importance of keeping a sketchbook. I used to be a lot better at updating them when I was a teenager, but now I find myself only adding to it when I have an assignment coming up. Sketchbooks are great because it gives one a place to explore ideas and themes. I'd love to be able to make it a routine again to add to my sketchbook. Maybe a new life resolution?
Do any of you have a sketchbook that you draw or write in often?
This came out super awesome! Love all the colors!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Melissa!
DeleteI think this needs to be framed and hung. The colors are so beautiful! I'm so impressed that you were able to do this with watercolors, it looks like professional Tria work to me. I like the middle line the most, it's like eyes leading to the center. I use to be really good about my sketch book but this past year I've hardly touched it. It's been fun to see the pages out of yours, it always makes me want to work on mine. (But then sleep calls...) congrats on finishing this up by the way!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Katie! The aquaboard actually already comes on a board with a two inch deep cradle, so it's ready to hang! (That cuts out so much cost in framing)
DeleteYou've got all the time in the world to pick up sketching again. Whenever inspiration strikes! :)
I can't get over the colors and complexity! I don't have a sketchbook, because I'm not a drawist, but I do make a point of writing every day. It's usually just something little, but if I don't flex my narrative muscles constantly, I never end up writing anything more involved.
ReplyDeleteThis is nuts! You're so talented. I wish I was good at art!
ReplyDeleteAMAZING! I love how colorful it is!

ReplyDeleteWHow do you come up with these amazing designs? I love the colours and the eyes in this piece.
