Winter needs a new pair of boots.
I've gone through multiple pairs of winter boots over the recent years. It used to be that when I was 18 I thought it was okay to wear ballet flats out in the 20 below chill of Fairbanks. Getting a pair of decent winter boots wasn't a concern of mine at that point in time. Seven years later, I relish the thought of cozy boots to keep out the cold air.
Over the past two years, I've had a bair of boots completely fall apart, and one pair that were heavy duty men's style that ended up contributing to some back pain and leg soreness. These two fails are the reason why I am having a hard time deciding what pair of boots I should buy. I still have a few more weeks before I will be walking to the bus stop in snow, so there is still time to decide!
I've been oogling some boots from the websites of both Sorel and El Naturalista, but I want to go on a physical boot hunt before making a final decision.

My main concern is being able to have good traction on the ice when I am walking to and from the bus stop, and also for when I am walking around on campus. I more than likely won't order them online in fear that the sizing won't be right, but it's fun to take a look at boot porn.
In other news, I am looking forward to a double birthday bash on Friday! My best friend and I are literally only three days apart in terms of age, so we have been celebrating our birthdays together the past 2 years. This year will mark our transition into quarter centurydom. (Note: Her and I have known each other for about 17 years, but we have spent a lot of that time having to live in different parts of the state.)
Hah, ballet flats t twenty below, that is such a fairbanks thing. I saw a girl at fred meyers once in flipflops in the middle of febuary. Crazy stuff. Have you tried out Boggs yet? I've had my pair for five years now and they've held up really well. They comfy for walking, have good tread on the bottom, are water proof and really warm in the cold with wool socks.(I think they make liners for them but I've never needed them.). Of couse, there's always the super fashionable bunny boots! :)
ReplyDeleteI've never owned a pair of Boggs! I will look into those as well. I usually end up getting cheap winter shoes that break apart, so getting a nice pair that will last years is my priority. (Flip flops?! REALLY?)
