New Year's Resolutions

What I love about starting a new year is not just the hope that it will be the best that I can make of it, but also the period of reflection on what's happened in the past year. I can look back at some of the things that I may have wanted to accomplish but didn't, and then try to accomplish them in the next twelve months. I tend to put a lot of pressure on myself to get as much done as possible in a short amount of time, but ideally I would like to start being less hard on myself. I get the feeling that I would be a lot more productive if I did just that.

I would like to have some more structured goals in my life, and with my already disorganized way of accomplishing things, it will be a welcome thing to try out this year. I have a long list (there are loads of things I want to do), but I will share a few of them.

1.) Update this blog at least once a week every day of the entire year.
This one shouldn't be hard to accomplish. Even with the hectic semester this past fall, I was able to create a new blog and still pass all of my classes with flying colors. I am always inspired to write and I like to entertain new ideas, so I look forward to adding even more this year!

Picked up this planner at Wal-Mart and added one of the stickers Sofia got me!

2.) Be more physically active.
I am by no means an inert person, as I regularly go on walks almost everyday, and being without a vehicle means that I am using my legs a lot to get from point A to point B. However, I do not do a whole lot of exercise that really gets my heart racing. I forgot to mention it in my 2013 post, but I took up the new hobby of hula hooping. I'm happy about how far I've come with it, but I would like to make it part of my regular life again (I used to do it everyday). There is so much more to exercise than losing weight, and I learned that I actually feel happier when I am exerting my energy.

I bought this hula hoop last May. I got it from Hiptronic Hoops.

3.) Learn how to be more patient and focus better.
On an average day, I am constantly jumping from task to task. I have a difficult time focusing, and part of this is due to my tendency for impatience when it comes to simple tasks. Whether it's chores or a project, I tend to let my impatience get the best of me, and I drop whatever I am doing and just move on to something else. It's not a very satisfying way to get things done, and it seems to take longer. Therefore, I would like to learn how to be more patient, that way I can focus better on the task at hand, and thus be more successful at accomplishing whatever it is that I want to do.

Tools of the trade.

4.) Read at least 15 books.
Fifteen books isn't a whole lot, but when I compare it to this past year, it's a lot larger of a number. I already have a head start on this resolution, since I started a new book just a few days ago. I will also be finishing a lot of books that I barely started in 2013, and I will be counting those as well! I can't wait to read as much as I can. Making it a goal will help a lot with my concentration as well.

Just a few of the books on my list.

5.) Develop a personal path to relaxation.
In order to achieve this goal, I will try to not let things weigh too heavily on my shoulders, as well as not entertain the constant worry that can sometimes flood my mind. I will attempt to utilize any mode of relaxation I can through hobbies, including but not limited to knitting, crocheting, reading, writing, singing, or even re-watching the entire series Scrubs in order to laugh. (I miss that show.)

Going to get my knit on!

6.) Create more in general.
Though I did make a lot of new art from taking drawing and watercolor classes the past year, I didn't do a whole lot of creating in my spare time aside from it being for school. I really want to do more of my own projects in 2014, and that includes all of my hobbies (especially you, knitting). Maybe I can finally open my Etsy shop if I follow through with this resolution!

Current project I am working on. Will share in time! :)

    1. Hula hooping has been my favorite way of exercising ever since I started! Nothing quite beats it, especially when you're outside and listening to the Bee Gees. :D
