Intermediate Watercolor: Project #1
Objective: To paint a photorealistic picture of objects that describe a person. This is called a "rack" painting.
Tools Used: Arches' 300 lb. cold press watercolor paper, Winsor & Newton paint, Derwent watercolor pencils, Connoisseur brushes, masking liquid, drafting tape, and X-acto knife.
Timeframe: January 14 - February 4
The meaning of this project is very personal, but I felt like it was also very cathartic and helped me put my past into perspective. It's essentially supposed to be about my self from ten years ago, back when I was at the peak of my self-destructive tendencies. It's such a stark difference to who I am now, and I really want to continue in this direction of positivity and self-control.
At the end of class yesterday, we received instructions about our next assignment! I am absolutely excited about it.
This painting is amazing, both technically speaking and in the emotion it evokes. I'm glad you're in a different place now, and able to transform past pain into art.
