OOTD: Turtle shirt, we're so happy together!

Dress: Indian Imports (local)
Shirt: Vendor fair in Oregon
Cardigan: Torrid
Tights: Cuddlduds
Boots: Payless

I bought this tank top during my trip to Oregon back in late 2012. It's one of the few souvenirs I picked up, and I've hardly worn it because the racer back style is awfully revealing. Little did I know at the time that it would look wonderful when layered over dresses and other shirts, which brings me to present day, when I eventually figured that out.

While in Oregon, I had so much free time at my disposal that I randomly chose to study turtles and tortoises. Before that point, I only knew vaguely what the differences were, but after reading some information about them I found out just how different they really are.

For example, a turtle has a flat and thinner shell for aide in its water-dwelling lifestyle, while a tortoise has a large, thick, dome-shaped shell to help protect itself against possible land predators. Tortoises also live, on average, much longer than a turtle. 150 years is considered to be a very old age for a tortoise.

While they can be kept as pets, they unfortunately have a high rate of being let into the wild because the owner may find them to be too high maintenance to take care of. This is always a bad idea as the local area might not be suitable for their needs, and they carry the risk of spreading disease to wild animals.

As for me, I am fine at keeping my love for turtles and tortoises at the t-shirt bearing level. I fantasized about having one as a pet for a brief time, but I know it wouldn't be a right fit in the long run. I'm still having cat withdrawal symptoms that need to be taken care of first and foremost.

    1. You know, I was actually worried that it might be too much purple... but then I realized that there can never be enough purple.

  3. that's so nuts that they can live for so long- they look rather dinosaur-y dont they? and as for your hat question, they don't usually blow off of my head, haha! if there's a big gust of wind i have to hold on to them, but they pretty much firmly stay on the whole day through :) it's all about finding one that's not too small!

    1. Thanks for answering my odd question! I'm still getting used to the feeling of having a hat on my head. I can't wear One Size hats since they are usually too small, but Men's hats fit just fine, haha.

  4. This outfit is so cute! I particularly love those boots. I used to have pet turtles as a kid. I loved them, but at some point they started to hate each other. It was not a good situation!

    1. I would have never thought of a turtle named Speedy... I guess that's less common than naming your turtle Michelangelo? XD

  8. Thanks for your comment on my blog! In response to your question, my favorite Stephen King books would have to be Misery, Thinner, Pet Semetary, and Cujo. I never wanted to put them down!

You should totally still feel special about the Pink Power Ranger ;)
